Don't mean to butt in here, but could you post a link/info on this MSFT deal? SGI needs a boost of any kind at this point.

i truly believe that SGI has more cool, interesting, useful, entertaining, well thought out, rigorious, tasteful, sound, elegant, marketable ideas and technologies than any other player. MSFT may well be the catalyst for turning this all into cash. if they get over their facination with exclusivity, and get this stuff out to the unwashed, i see 10,000 streams of revenue for a long time.SGI getting back to it's roots as an obscure fringe, idealistic, marginal, eclectic, geeknest would certainly be a topic for Wired journalists, but as a business stratigy, i think it would be a hard sell:)

Larry,

I like your little pun and find it amusing. SGI allowed its core market to erode and you now want it to refocus on its ro(o)ts? Bill smells blood and he's circling. Does Windows 95 remind you anything about the Mac OS? It must be some kind of empty pride swelling inside a Mac OS engineer when he hears comments about how much Bill has done in imitating the Mac OS. Any remaining good things at SGI will be sucked right out cleanly without even a hissing sound. And, the '???' in your 'Maybe this is the beginning???' will be filled in with 'of the end game'. Perhaps, one day my friends at SGI will look back and lament '... at least our intellectual organs live on...'
