Hi Gottfried,.......selling puts on the energy stocks at this time is a good move. You sell the puts and I'll sell the calls.

But here is a slightly different strategy. I used to sell covered calls four to six weeks out and get whatever I thought was a resonable premium. (2% a month would be great).

But a lot can happen in a four week period to a oversold quality stock.

So now I sell covered calls only two weeks out. ESV for example could easily move up three to six dollars in a two week period. (because it is so oversold).

Selling the puts is probably a safer strategy. But the important thing is to not wait a long time to get back in the green on a stock like ESV.

ESV...stock appreciation...very likely.

ESV.....dividends help

ESV...option premium another small bonus.

I own ESV...but I would look at SDRL for greater appreciation near term.

OT/Politics.....Republicans have the wind at their backs and their sails full. But getting them all to tack in a co-ordinate way is like herding cats. Their only salvation is to work with the Democrats but that will just antagonize the far right even more. We need more third party members of congress to broker some legislation.
