Deflation in USD is good - as long as it is the strongest currency and appreciating against others. The old models are wrong because they never considered the dominant consumer getting deflation while others experiencing inflation - we need the consumer class (US) to spend with wild abandon because stuff is cheap while the producer class (BRIC?) toil away at lower wages. Sorry, that's the way I see it..

For a while yes, but deflation is armageddon for over-indebted entities. Can you think of any? I can. For now there seems to be supreme confidence that any amount of sovereign debt can be printed over until growth cures all. That's what the kool-aid says. If that confidence wavers watch out. All the gold repatriation stories suggest to me that it is wavering.
