Meathead:

Good post - credit where credit is due!

It should only be a while though until the 100MHz will be available from all the big boys...

Best regards

Kai

It's only the 66Mhz front side bus however using the LX chipset and not the new 100Mhz BX.

Meathead,
Could you give little bit more details? 100Mhz bus you mentioning, is it the bus that will use Slot1 and Slot2? From what I remember this slots will accommodate cards with the Pentium and memory chips them on them instead of current design when Pentium installed directly on motherboard. Motherboard becoming just a passive backplane.
Again, from what I remember this design has been used for many years in industrial computers because of its ruggedness. It withstands shocks and vibrations much better than traditional desktop computer. Customers will be getting much less DOA computers. Also repairs become much easier. Any hardware problem can be fixed by replacing a card by an identical card instead of taking the whole computer apart as it often requires now. It boils down to less hardware problems, remaining problems are much easier to troobleshoot and fix. Any technician can replace a card or two on the site to get computer running.
If what was said above is true, companies selling computers through vendors seems to be loosing its advantage. I remember Steve mentioned many times on this thread, that he prefers buying computers through a dealer only to make sure that he gets workig computer in the box. Otherwise DELL computers are easier to deal with than Compaq's.
I appreciate anybody who will share his knowledge.
