tech: From the AGISS press release:

>>Tasks included in this first phase contract include the provision of
professional services to assist in: the development of an inventory of 3M's Greenville plant information technology assets; to conduct a high-level assessment of the impact of the century change on the plant operations; to develop an overall strategy and approach to resolving the Year 2000 problem; to provide a detailed estimate of the work required to correct individual applications; and to provide testing and implementation support for each converted application.<<

This is an assessment, sizing, and planning project. It will be interesting to see how much revenue CSGI will receive from this ... if they get any at all. The primary expense in this type of service is people. It takes a long time to inventory a site's software portfolio, and it takes a lot of thought (read: people time) to develop conversion and testing plans.

In addition to CSGI's toolset, AGISS uses CCD Online. They might choose to do the date find processing themselves instead of packaging it all up and shipping it off to CSGI. Note that shipping won't be necessary if AGISS' Sun Workstation is properly configured with the CSGI toolset by the time it's needed for this project.

This investing game sure would be a lot easier if all details were as simple as black and white.
