1) Taxes can't be raised by executive orders.
2) He can only use the bully pulpit to oppose new investments. I doubt if the people investing are big Obama followers.
3) How would he stop them if the Saudi's wanted that? Invade?
4) See 3.

Sounds like you are channeling Fox. Or WND.

Prices won't last because the Chinese and Indian economies will recover. Or at least you better hope they will. As to fracking for oil, it won't last because it is draining existing reservoirs faster and doesn't open very much in the way of reservoirs that weren't exploitable before. These were exploitable, but at a lower rate of production than with fracking. So they will go bust sooner. Well before we can exploit Arctic Ocean oil.

In that light, it would be smart to tax gas back up to $4 a gallons and use that money to fund renewables. Otherwise, when US production starts dropping circa 2020 or so, we don't see really rapidly rising gas costs that can be truly disruptive. But, democracies, especially conservatively dominated democracies don't do smart, proactive things. They tend to do stupid, reactive things that crater economies and kills lots of 99 percenters. As long as the 1 percenter's reap the benefits it is all good, am I right Tenchu?
