REDONDO BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 17, 1997-- Vantas, a Microtek company, today announced
the introduction of the DPA-P87 and DPA-S50, the first digital surround processor/amplifiers that allow users to play back
Dolby Digital (AC-3) with any receiver. These products will be shown at the 1998 International Consumer Electronics Show
in Las Vegas, Hilton Booth 5130.

The rising popularity of Dolby Digital in home theater inspired Vantas to create two products that make Dolby Digital available
to everyone. The DPA-P87 and DPA-S50 (patents pending) enable all Pro Logic and stereo home theater systems to play
back 5.1 channels of Dolby Digital encoded sources.

The majority of the more than 29 million Dolby Surround systems sold to date can not play back 5.1-channel Dolby Digital.
Dolby Digital is a universal standard found on DVD, laserdisc, and PC multimedia and will migrate to DSS, HDTV and digital
cable. Vantas' ground-breaking products are the bridge to the Dolby Digital listening experience and provide a unique
surround sound solution to the discriminating home theater enthusiast.

Vantas' new products pioneer intelligent features that simplify the user interface and eliminate the need for a remote control.
Source detection and switching are automatic. Real time VTRACK (TM) (digital volume tracking) matches the surround
channels to a receiver's main volume level. Automatic features can also be set manually.

Vantas' advanced technologies ensure outstanding audio performance. Both new products employ a dedicated toroidal
transformer for the three high power discrete amplifiers. The power amplifiers are completely protected, electrically and
thermally. Other design features include multilayer PCB construction, digital surround decoding, large power capacitors,
reliable binding post speaker terminals, and advanced ergonomic styling.

Malone continued, ''The power of this new technology will be far greater than what we thought we could achieve in this time
frame, including high-speed Internet access, advanced digital entertainment features such as digital video and audio, and a
broad range of new services including network games, impulse transaction capabilities, data and e-mail and the future promise
of Internet voice and video applications. The most powerful aspect of OpenCable is the ability to involve multiple hardware,
software and service vendors in the evolution of this platform. Our arrangement with GI provides us the opportunity to select
specific hardware, software and service vendors, taking advantage of the well-known interest of technology and computer
industry participants. As we continue our discussions and selection process, we can anticipate a series of announcements in the
upcoming months as those specific relationships are established.''
