If you borrow money in foreign currencies, like Argentina did, you are definitely on the path to quick ruin.

And Argentina defaulted on its own sovereign bonds and the peso dropped hugely too. Try again.

You probably may not even know that the US sold Treasuries denominated in foreign currencies in mid/late 1979.
