"For what it's worth most atheists are not obsessed with finding some idea that causes a problem for religion."

While there are most certainly a few Atheists who are not obsessed with debunking Theism by any means, I think that statement is more likely to be true of Agnostics in general. Atheists by definition are declaring that they "know" "there is no God!" After making such a bold and obviously un-provable assertion about the true nature of reality it's very difficult for them to allow even the possibility that there might be a God. Scientists who are avowed Atheists have a personal and religious conflict of interest and are susceptible to confirmation bias. The fact is, there is no evidence for Multiple Universes theories and there are no experiments that can be done to prove such assertions. On the other hand there are fingerprints all over Creation that directly point to a Creator. Honest investigators are willing to follow the evidence where it leads. Atheists seem to want to fix the game and disqualify certain kinds of evidence a priori because they already "know there is no God". That makes them piss poor scientists.
