Tom -

Re: the Fortune article about Clik.

There is at least one factual error in the article. The writer says "First, no manufacturer of information appliances has agreed to incorporate a Clik drive into any of its products." That isn't strictly true. Hitachi has announced that they will incorporate Clik into cameras and PDAs.

Second, his characterization that there were "no takers" for n.hand is couched in the most negative possible terms. Iomega announced n.hand a bit over a year ago. They announced that they would be talking to manufacturers about it the technology, and what it would take to interest them in using it. They did so, refined the design, and came back with Clik. This is not the same as coming up with a product and having no takers for it.

I just read this article--didn't you like the caption under the photo of one of the IOM dancing girls that said something like "they had to resort to short skirts and cleavage to convince people the product was actually worth something"

Surprise!!! the good folks at Fortune get it "right", again. Short while ago, Fortune recommended Danka, which went ballistics yesterday. Now Fortune got IOM's Clik shit "right". i wonder why Clik would not pass the drop test, after all Sony is selling Cameras that use 3.5 inch floppy disks -sws

Tom: That Fortune writer is just plain sour on IOM. IOM's Comdex display and NY Clik rollout are garish hype. But I'm sure the writer had a front row seat when Bill Gates and the Rolling Stones modestly released Windows 95....

Thanks for the link.
