"There is no question the economist I worked for in grad school and studied econometrics & non-linear programming under, was a scientist. "

How many theories did he test with experiments? If he was a scientist, he would be called a money scientist, not an economist.

I worked for in grad school and studied econometrics & non-linear programming under

Interesting stuff, linear and non-linear programming and under the latter, (piecewise) dynamic programming, besides servo- and feedback algos, my MScEE items...

Long time ago, though.

Leaves a working knowledge leaving a life long valuable imprint, feed-back systems and mathematical programming contained together, strong stuff.

Good back-ground for my later Master in banking and financing too.
