Calling the certs will require covering but here's where the conspiracy of MMs kicks in:

MM1--some slick XYZ shareholder has called his certs, thinking they'll squeeze me. Can you help me out?

MM2--sure, as we discussed, I got them to loan to you. BTW, some slick ABC shareholder has called his certs, thinking they'll squeeze me. Can you help me out?

MM1--No problem, as we discussed, let's swap.

And so it goes. They can do this ad nauseum.

The squeezes we thought were happening were most likely buying because THEY THOUGHT A SQUEEZE WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.

Remember that short term movements of stock have NOTHING TO DO WITH
FUNDAMENTALS!

ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!! NOTHING!

That is why CSMA was trading at 6 earlier this year and it was also trading at .20 earlier this year without any bearing on the fundamentals.

You are wrong about the certs, however.

I knew this stuff about calling in the certs was just nonsense

I felt the same about this short stuff. What I don't understand is how can this stock be shorted when it is not an optionable stock? Please enlighten me, according to my broker DLJdirect.
