Do you have another USB port on your laptop, the one the mouse receiver plugs into, to see if it's the receiver or the USB port itself? I've seen the ports go bad. If it works well in another port, then your mouse is fine.

IF I HOLD THAT DISK ON THE SIDE that slides in and push it in with all my might the mouse works... But if I take my hand off and all if stops working.
or try the receiver in another USB port

Before buying a new mouse, take the mouse from you HP computer and see if it works in your Toshiba.
