Gene, I don't think I'm with you on that.

I was a member of the Teamster's Union when I worked in the Steel Mills.

I learned pretty quick that hard work and competence meant little when you were the member of a Union.

The guy with the most seniority would move up regardless of whether he was competent or not.

Overall, the Union seemed to make for a much less efficient operation.

I'm not saying that workers don't need representation and a say in how they are treated but today's Unions aren't really about that. Today's Unions are about squeezing as much out of management as they can get and productivity be damned.
