GS didn't do diligent research. A lot of their analysis is guess work. It appeared thet wanted err on the perceived safe side. Qtr ending 3/98 could be a weak qtr for CSCO. It's interesting that they didn't take into account lower ASP due to increased competition from non-CSCO cos. INTC which has 87 % of processor shipment and 95% of processor rev. got beaten up due to lower ASPs and margins. Why didn't that happen to CSCO ? How ironic ? Don't believe everything analysts says.
BTW, COMS held up real well considering that St. expected $0.43 while COMS pre-announced $0.04 a -91% reduction. Had ASND done that, it would have been pummeled to below $10/shr. COMS has poor visibility too. It may have something to do w/ good relationship w/ the investment community.
