Yup, It's very cheap to do today. Having personally designed and built out a number PV systems over the last thirty plus years it's incredible how the costs have dropped. Especially the last ten years or so. I own a "off grid" home that has generated virtually all of it's electrons from PV's the last twenty four years. (plus a dash... of windpower) No PV failures and no generator required. Just pure silence and no moving parts. Not to mention, no pollution! Eric P.S. Vastly more reliable than any grid!
