<<Times like these its better to just short anything in sight>>

That, in part, is why I went short JBIL this week instead of long.
I'm still not confident that we are going to see the kind of Santa rally that many people are expecting...there is still some tax loss selling in stocks that are down, there are still people selling into the strength to protect existing gains, and there is no motive for the funds to pump money in now...despite the pains of the last 10 weeks, most funds are still up nicely for the year...if things runs up now, it makes performing next year even harder; if things stay down now, performing next year is relatively easier. It is one thing for the funds to pump in money at the end of the year to boost their year end numbers -- but why do it when the full year numbers already look good and there are lots of signs that it may be harder next year.
Regarding bonds, one of my theories is that all the money that has gone into bonds will have a hard time coming out without causing rates to rise such that the market reacts negatively: the proverbial double edged sword...
I am not sure about a lot of things in this market right now, but I am sure that my cash will lose less idle than it may lose by being invested simply to be invested...4%-5% money market yield is not great by any stretch, but it beats the heck out of a loss..
I may wait a little longer before diving in...pick a horse and ride it works great so long as all the horses are running...
