Paul, Re: "When Wall Street wakes up to this fact, it will be pay day for Intel investors."

It is amazing to me that this new profit stream that Intel will be accessing for the first time with the Merced introduction will be IN ADDITION to the profit stream from the PII successors which will be dominating the pc market world-wide at the same time - AND THE MARKET ABSOLUTLY IGNORES THIS!

Consider:
Intel price 12/17/96 - 130 presplit
Intel price 12/17/97 - 69 1/2 postsplit

Not much difference in one year SHOWING HERE.

But...

Just another $5-6B more in the bank.
Just 1 year closer to that share of that $70B market with Merced.
Just another 10-20 million new pc users world-wide.
Just another year of a great economy.
Just one new product introduction after another.
Just with the competition continuing to self-destruct.
Just with 15-20% growth in chip sales continuing/probably accelerating

Gee, what more could one want from a company? Lower profits? No growth? Incredibly strong competition? Technological obsolescence?

It's beyond me.
