SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) _ Finisar Corp. (FNSR) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $1.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the Sunnyvale, California-based company said it had profit of 2 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to 25 cents per share.

The results matched Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was also for earnings of 25 cents per share.

The fiber optic component supplier posted revenue of $306.3 million in the period, topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $305.8 million.

For the current quarter ending in April, Finisar expects its per-share earnings to range from 22 cents to 28 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $310 million to $330 million for the fiscal fourth quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $309.4 million.

Finisar shares have increased nearly 5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $20.33, a decline of 15 percent in the last 12 months.
