As we know, a few days ago State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said , with respect to ISIS that (1) we can’t kill our way out of the war, and (2) future jihadists might not join ISIS if they had employment opportunities. Now, in addition to the brilliant idea of having a jobs fair for would-be terrorists, Obama’s got an even better plan: Meet ISIS on the battlefield where it really counts. Twitter. Who needs boots on the ground when you can tweet your way through cyberspace in a virtual war between small 2-dimensional blue birds? The Independent Sentinel reports :The NY Times posted a story on the 16th saying that the administration is going into countermessaging to defeat ISIS propaganda. The Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications is going to use more than 350 State Department Twitter accounts to launch a Twitter attack on ISIS! We’re going to tweet them to death! ISIS sends 90,000 tweets a day so the government is facing an awesome challenge. That is a challenge. However will the United States combat 90,000 tweets a day? Here is an excerpt from the New York Times report:With the Islamic State and its supporters producing as many as 90,000 tweets and other social media responses every day, American officials acknowledge they have a tough job ahead to blunt the group’s digital momentum ….(snip) Other officials questioned whether even a newly empowered center at the State Department would be up to the task….(snip) The new director will be Rashad Hussain, a Muslim American who has close ties to the White House and is currently the special envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation . Speaking on Fox News Special Report , George Will had this to say about the NY Times report:Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy said…“We’re getting beaten on volume, so the only way to compete is by aggregating, curating, and amplifying existing content.” We are going to inundate ISIS with tweets, it turns out, from 350 State Department accounts. The Assistant Secretary of State said “the new campaign against the Islamic State would carry out strategies now routinely employed by many businesses and individuals to elevate their digital footprints.” No boots on the ground, but digital footprints. To add stupidity to insult to injury to malice to insanity, it turns out (wait for it) Rashad Hussain, the man who will head up this new department of an agency of a bureaucracy of task force, is tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. (Is there anyone in this administration who isn’t?) As Pamela Geller wrote :So a terrorist supporter will head up our counterterrorism messaging. Why not just turn over the whole operation officially to the Muslim Brotherhood. Then the groups of Jihadists can debate each other on Twitter and we won’t have to pay for it. Or become corrupted by their messaging. ......................
