The real lesson for me, Steve, has been that I need to learn from my parents and decide where my wife and I want to live 10-15 years from now and start moving in that direction. My wife doesn't want to think about it despite the anguish she is experiencing with her mother's situation. I (very gently) point out that if we don't start making those sorts of plans now (I'm 60, she's 62) it is likely we'll end up stuck at home and causing untold anguish for our only child/daughter. I told my daughter not to expect any inheritance aside from not having to worry about us -- just have to make it happen, now -- and paying for her undergrad education (she's saving up to get a masters in a year or so).

However, Steve, I worry about anyone who wants my post to go on and on and on beyond the opus I posted... <ggg>
