>>If it was any other brokerage I would say so what, but Goldman is respectable<<

Weren't they the bankers on the muei/mu debt scams?

David, if memory serves me correct Goldman was the lead underwriter on the convertible offering last summer. I think in early July they dropped coverage of MU and a number of other chip issues.

Was the "Priority List" buy rec. done as an "initiation of coverage", as opposed to an upgrade?

If it was an "initiation", is it correct to say that the lead underwriter on the converts, a major "top-tier" firm, has gone without equity research coverage for 5 months on one of the largest U.S. semicon firms?

Why would they wait 5 months to resume coverage?

Oh...Maria B. is calling it an initiation. Most interesting <g>

Good trading,

Tom

DavidG:
I am confused. It was on Dec. 16 that Merrill Lynch downgraded MU. Do the analysts know what they are doing or are they preparing buying opportunities for their clients and themselves?
