Had we chosen to things differently as a nation we could have had the money to do those things as we did when JFK proposed the moonshot.

Since that time, Social Security has accumulated 9 trillion in debt. Medicare/Medicaid have accumulated around 50 Trillion in debt.

Horrible deals made with public sector unions have left trillions in unfunded liabilities at the federal, state, and local level.

Obamacare has dumped trillions of new costs on taxpayers.

We have record numbers of people on the public dole, a broke disability program because of fraud, and the labor force participation rate is at a 40 year low, headed to an all time low.

And national debt has climbed to 18 trillion dollars.

So, no, we couldn't do the SSC. We can't even build a transportation system to get our astronauts to and from our space station without bumming rides from the Russians. And we sure as hell cannot afford the crap tejek wants (trains where they're not needed) and research into space projects.

At this point Democrats have so wrecked our economy it is unclear how we recover. Space technologies isn't in the cards.
