Yes.

I'm simply pointing to the absurdity that the United States is dead in the water when it comes to space.

And right. It is due to funding, just like the SSC which should have been completed.

The problem is that anti-poverty and health care programs have sucked up all the money by encouraging non-productive behavior instead of productive behavior.

And the increasing debt burden because of liberal social programs, most recently, Obamacare, pretty much guaranteed that America will not lead in these technologies again anytime soon.

Economic nitwits in DC. And I'm including Democrats as well as Republicans.
