Re. tithing/giving. I have had this belief and conviction for years: Either we give to God our "first-fruits" or we are giving permisiion for the devil to take it.
I see Believers that live carefully on 90% or less and with very modest incomes---they are doing well.
I see non-believers that make much more, no balance in their lives and maxed out credit-wise.
I know a retired pastor that always had the small rural hard-scrabble churches---I doubt if he ever made as much as $10,000 in a year---drove school busses to supplement his eke-ing existense, but totally committed to Christ. He bought clothes at the Salvation Army and Good Will---as well as his shoes, but he gave generously, etc....wouldn't you know it, when he retired, he bought a lot, bought a nice house, had it moved to the lot---rennovated the house and is doing just fine, thank you.
He would say he was blessed by God. And he is---and he was and is still a blessing. A fine humble Christian gentleman that will be right in there with the widow and her mite.
