Byrd never apologized ... the "white nigger" speech (in 2001) was the closest he got ... and there he was saying he knew plenty of white people as bad as the black ones. That's not an apology or a changed mind.

Funny how they remember Byrd, but have totally forgotten David Duke. Who, after getting no traction as a Democrat, had much more success once he switched to being a Republican. Seems the KKK and racism had a much more comfortable home on the Republican side of the ledger...
