CJ,
A democracy cannot operate any other way.
Our democracy was founded on freedom OF religion.

The separation of church and state was meant to protect both.

Now you're saying the church cannot operate in a democracy without "staying in the closet."

Brilliant, CJ. Simply brilliant.

>> Yep. A democracy cannot operate any other way. In a non-secular environment, there is always the struggle of which religion or sect gets to call the shots. And that means that issues that are religion-tinged pushes out others, no matter how important.

What a crock of absolute bullshit.

Who is calling the shots today? Would that be the Christians, the Jews, the Atheists, Islamists? Who, exactly is calling the shots?

>> Small town America, for example.

I've spent half my life living in small towns. Never saw one where the "shots were called" by any religion.

You're full of it.
