Financial market economists said the victory of Kim Dae-jung in the South Korean presidential election was taken by traders as a sign that Asia's financial troubles may deepen.

Kim is the first opposition leader to win the office and is closely tied to organized labor, which has protested what it views as harsh terms to an International Monetary Fund bailout of South Korea's economy.

''Stocks took a dive when the results came in,'' said Edward Yardeni, chief economist at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in New York.

Yardeni said Kim's election signaled ''a greater risk of more resistance at the very top levels of the Korean government to the IMF plan.''

Greg--->All this BAAAAD news I am sick of it. I vote for rally Friday early.

Mohan,

I understand your point. The CPQ in the +1000 to 2000 price range are not selling as well as the 999 unit. The 799 unit is not as popular as the 999 unit from my experience.

The BTO model will use the web. The CTO model will use the the distibution and the authorized dealers. Meanwhile, the natives are restless.

The unauthorized dealers may be sitting on a lot of merchandise at the end of january. Ouch....

Despite what sTEVE says, CPQ would not be doing this if DELL did not have an advantage.
