A couple of points,

Yield is NOT linear with die size, but works on logaritmic basis so reduced die sizes

Intel is and has added significant capacity year on year from 97 to 98.
And their die sizes are going down.

AMD was a non-player in 97 and could ship 10-20M units (if anybody wants them).

Cyrix has IBM with NSM's new fab and low cost taiwan fab for GX etc (again if anybody wants them).

IDT has a new empty oregon fab and will ship some .... (if anybody wants them).

The other issue in the Mix is what percentage of market will be segment zero low end computers vs high end intel CPU's.

I find it difficult to concieve of AMD selling 15M cpu's although I am sure they will have the capacity to do so. If price falls to $50 range and Flash and Vantis biz. stays poor then you certainly have a very poor outlook for AMD.

Best Regards,

Kash.
