>> That's not really what we're bothered about. What bothers us is that, in increasing order, the top 5%, top 1% and top .1% get to keep more than all the rest of us, in percent of actual income terms.

That is because they are more productive than you are. That's how this works. Those who are able to provide goods and services that people want are able to earn a lot of money.

If you don't want to participate, don't do it.

You are not entitled to other people's money.

get to keep

There it is. How nice of our overlords to decide that we "get to keep" some of our assets. The amount of which is dependent upon the political climate du jour..

However, my point about that Huffpost rag's headline was the abuse of the English language. Instead of using the word "handout" to describe tax relief (which does imply that your money belongs to the government by default), your "get to keep" would have been a lot more accurate.

Anyway, I'm done with this. It's a very nice "global warming" day here in the northwest, and I'm heading outside to enjoy it..

Democrats DO want to increase taxes on the middle class ..... the AMT is an example. It was introduced as needed to get millionaires to pay income taxes but upper middle income people pay it while the Warren Buffet's don't.
