I am not really sure that the Asian crisis will affect software companies so much.

Worse affected are those companies that will have to compete with cheap imports...Hyundai cars and Samsung TV sets (watch out GM)

Software seems to be US produced and sold in US dollars

The effect of Asia on US software companies will be secondary viz

1)Decreased demand for about 12 months as Asian countries simply cannot afford to upgrade

and

2)Share price selling as other companies get sold off, funds managers maintain their ratios by selling off tech stocks.

In any event the Asian crisis like all crises will come to an end probably in about 12-18 months when the various stailisation packages start to bite. Lets face it a region with a population of 2 billion will be a big market one day!

I think the reason for the fall in tech stocks is more indigenous, whilst Asia is partly to blame, most of the blame is due to the US funds managers, stop- loss selling, and possibly some people waking up to the fact that it is not really smart to hold stocks with PE's of 50, 100, or more.

We still don't know the reasons for BORL being sold off. It seems to be unfairly treated. No doubt it will recover in time.
