One thing is for sure though Reggie, the enormity and speed of the DOJ assault suggest massive intelligence sharing ,planning and collaboration among many parties -the obvious, and more fun......the not so obvious--.This is a stealth attack on a grand scale.The alleged most powerful corp. in the known universe,packing massive war chest, is apparently about to get the treatment.This is a great story which can only get better.Do you still think those 100k a year DOJ guys aren't up to it?Or, are the getting a little "help" from sinister,possibly enemy agents?

Reggie, "Well, for one, MSFT's stance is that they should be able to dictate what goes into their products." Could not have picked a better word than 'dictate' here. Suppose I own your local phone system and want you to 'lease' or 'license' all your internet service from me. Here's the new RANDIAN billing plan which falls under true capitalism. Phone service for individuals not using my service but using a modem will go from $14.95 to $14.95 basic charge plus $10.00 surcharge to cover the cost of upgrading equipment to handle increased phone usage,etc. Service for those using my internet service however, is only $24.95 which includes access to my new RandNet internet service providership. I bundle them together since naturally internet service is an extension of phone service. Competing ISP's will of course scream but, hey, if they do not like it they can always sell you internet service over cellular or satellite. Consumers still have freedom of choice here; plentry of alternatives offered. Eventually the majority of consumers will make the correct 'natural market-forces' decision to use my service. Oh, yeah, there will be a few 'techno-philes' who scream that 56.6 kbps modems are better than the 14.4 kbps modems I've integrated (or dictated) into every home phone jack. But once again, if they do not want phone service from me they can just go out and build their own phone network. Oh, yes, sorry about the annoying 'black-outs' and other 'known issues' but my maintenance resources are being better utilized in my ongoing bid to crush and bankrupt the local cellular service by giving away free air-time. Reggie, "The DOJ wants to be notified BEFORE MSFT releases new software (read thier latest petition). What do you call that, but a software version of the FDA?" After Microsoft's recent cleverisms in court, I'd say the DOJ wants to make sure the released software COMPLIES with the demands of the court. I did not see this as a Carte Blanc software release thing. Of course when a case of E. Coli breaks out the first thing the people do is blame the FDA rather than the RAND MEAT TRUST. "He then replied that he wants to protect the future, but we are in the present." Since when are we in the present on this thread? Forward P/E's, Models which ignore past and present earnings; future cash flows. Suddenly the present is all that's important. We's been saying that all along, it looks like you may be finally coming around. "When MSFT does somthing wrong, then you attack, this pre-emptive stuff is guesswork and far from equitable."
