Alex,

In answer to your inquiry about switching to an SSD:

I did it with Win7 Pro and booting up was much quicker. Unfortunately, a problem developed getting QB up and working correctly on the new drive. The switch confused it because it doesn't know where to look for the permission files to get started. This is not the SSD's fault and I haven't taken the time so solve the problem because I dread dealing with QB customer disservice.

Steve

I'm new to using SSDs and will have more firsthand knowledge this summer, however speed improvements are virtually guaranteed over conventional hard disk drives. Also, from considerable reading of reviews, Samsung SSDs are consistently ranked as among the best for popularity, speed, and reliability.

I have converted win pro and win ultimate to ssd from sata. One desktop and two laptops so far. definite speed up booting. Also did my linux system. One thing I recommend is that you download and run belarc advisor. I will create a web page showing all kinds of good info on installed hardware and apps installed and license keys.

I believe i had to reregister my win 7.

example of belarc report.
