This is the weekly look at the SOXM stocks and major indices in terms of percent change.

Quite a bit of red this week, all results at the bottom line are in the red. The semis fared worse than the major indices. Bottom line, the number was a -9.8.

Notice that INTC was at the bottom of the list today. Some other stocks near the bottom are TSM, MU, NXPI, and KLAC. CRUS and COHU, recent "high flyers" were near the bottom as well. COHU, up each of the last 5 weeks over 4% hit an "air pocket" this week, down -3.7%, when one of the 3 brokers following the stock downgraded COHU from a Buy to Neutral causing COHU to lose -6.2% today. RBCN, way at the bottom of the 13 week table for several weeks, was up 14.1% this week, but still mired deeply in last place in the 13 week table.

Low rates were definitely one of the things that made me interested in margin borrowing.

Normally TD gives something like 8% as a margin rate. I asked for special treatment, and they gave me 1.5%! How could I pass that up.

It even occurred to me that at that rate I should take a margin loan to pay for a house rather than a 30 year mortgage at 4%. I guess there's no guarantee that rates will stay that low for 30 years, but if the borrowing cost is around 1.5% you can probably pay the loan off faster than 30 year period.

Anyway, something to think about.
