hi, whitewolf,

if you haven't had your thyroid checked, please do so....low thyroid function can really ramp up your bad cholesterol numbers, extreme fatigue is a symptom....men usually have a much lower incidence of hypo-thyroid disease or hashimoto's (an auto-immune syndrome affecting the thyroid), but should still be ruled out

Heart problems. Hypothyroidism may also be associated with an increased risk of heart disease, primarily because high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol — the "bad" cholesterol — can occur in people with an underactive thyroid. Even subclinical hypothyroidism, a more benign condition than true hypothyroidism, can cause an increase in total cholesterol levels and impair the pumping ability of your heart. Hypothyroidism can also lead to an enlarged heart and heart failure.

I've had chronic fatigue syndrome (recently renamed SEID) for 25 years and can't take any more hits to my energy level.

Dr Davis is down to massive fish oil if you have high Lp(a). At least you know you have it and can compensate. Niacin is really off the table these days. I used to take it. Ignore the yammer on the Statins. If your body doesn't like them, listen to your body. :>)

Hi whitewolf:

Welcome to the board. My suggestion would be to read Wheat Belly as a good start and many of the posts Bill has in the header.

With Chronic Fatigue I can go off onto a separate tangent which may be best off line. Just as a primer my daughter suffers from this but she is still fighting borrelia, bartonella and babesia infections plus a couple of others from a tick bite (6 years this September). The IDSA MD refused to consider her fatigue coming from the tick bite "I know Lyme and your daughter doesn't have Lyme disease".

One other book we have found useful is Terry Wahls "The Wahls Protocol". This is an MD who came down with MLS and turned her life around with a change in diet.
