He sees himself as a general in that long, twilight struggle against the white race. Remember the muslims who gunned down Charley Hedo writers in Paris? Same mindset. He isn't looking for publicity for himself, he sees himself as just another footsoldier in that long, twilight struggle against the brown races. Yeah, an insanity plea ain't going to cut it no matter how much wingers on this thread wish it were true. Roof’s deranged manifesto is evidence showing that Roof was not in a delusional state during the shooting. Given the content of the manifesto, it’s pretty clear that Roof’s murders were primarily motivated by ideology and not psychosis.

Young idiots are EASILY "fueled". Like you say, I'm sure his family held black people in contempt and they passed those views on to their progeny. If what I read about his facebook account is accurate though I'm not sure he was such a total believer. They said he had 80 'friends' and 20 of those were black. I think the BIG problem here was the fact that this young guy was able to walk around with a deadly weapon. In most areas of the U.S. right now it's easier to get and carry around a gun than it is to get a driver's license. Call me old fashioned but I think there's something wrong with that.
