ÿPossible candidates include Oracle Corp. and Lotus Development Corp., as well as Adobe Systems Inc. and Micrografx Inc.

ÿAnalysts agreed it is unlikely one company will swallow Corel whole.
ÿInstead its main product lines, WordPerfect and CorelDraw, might be sold separately.
ÿThe purchasers would then cut spending and get as much sales as possible out of the products, while building on the brand name. That would mean job losses.

The NC is a reconfigured PC which reflects the move to highly distributed software architecture -- another area where Corel has ZERO experience. The PC or any derivative of the PC will make a find NC and that's not what this movement is all about. Java and CORBA software architectures are what define this new paradigm, not hardware. Dr. Cowpland is simply a misguided buffoon who has no more business running a software company than he has running a healthcare clinic. It is crystal clear that this man is delusional and unfit to manage any business. Although less clear, it's certainly questionable whether he could even hold down a job in the real world. The saving grace for Dr. Cowpland is that criminal behavior such as deliberately misleading analysts and subsequently dumping one's shares will simply be regarded as manifestations of his condition, should those charges prove to be true.
