My "first" shares are over 20 years old... 33% dividend on the original price... plus a nice capital gain when I decide to sell some more. I sold some of them in 1999 to get my cost basis and then some out. I started adding them to my explore portfolio as a way to diversify some from LRCX and C then trade around the core position a bit plus I've added them to my IRAs when cheap for the dividend and a way to trade the big moves and defer taxes (or no taxes for the ROTH shares.)

I think Intel has one of the best moats in the business.

I don't use margin... better to have a low cost home loan to get inflation protection while deducting interest and if the market tanks... no margin calls and you/I sleep better at night.
