Dave- TY re: Alcide....

Appreciate the post, hadn't seen the article or newswire about it. You were so good & cheerful in posting it, I hesitate 2/b tacky..... However, this being Sat. 'n all, it's clear you must be a city boy! "Gutters" are on bldgs. to catch leaves so hubby/boyfriend can go on roof and clean them 2x per yr, and remind us about the dangerous feat the rest of the year; "Utters" are subterrainian gutters, 6.375" underground, for the same purpose [lol]; and "Udders" are on Bessie.

Have a good one......
CJ

Eco-Pure.... "The Ozone Company".... Dominator of the industry.

Folks I spoke with Bill Stoddard on the phone yesterday for the first time. I can't adequately explain what a fabulous experience it was. He has a tremendous force and the kind of great personality you can only hope for in a leader. I have never been so certain that our company is in great hands as we head forward into the future. A future where Eco-Pure is the dominant player in the ozone industry. But how do we get there from here? Well that's what we specifically discussed, not just what it takes to get a food processing contract but what it takes to position a company as the leader in this industry.

So lets explore that a bit shall we?

So what is going on really? Is ozone decontamination the real answer to the profound problems that the food processing industry has with tainted food? I mean ozone has been around for a long, long time right? Why hasn't the company already announced a done deal? This is what I found out:

Bill told me that food processors are looking for credible, viable answers to these problems. Ozone decontamination can be that answer but it isn't a simple process that can be done with one standardized piece of machinery. It's not simple at all. I mean as we got to discussing the solutions it became ever more clear to me that it was not just a question of killing pathogens. Lets take produce for instance, say a tomato. Tomatoes are grown in many locations throughout the country. Every field will have a differing level of contaminants. Not just bacteria or viruses but pesticides and fertilizers as well. When a tomato is bathed in an ozone spray designed to decontaminate it all of these contaminants have to be treated while carefully watching the ph for any changes. A rise or fall in the ph could result in the opening of the pores on the tomatoes skin. Sure we could get a safe tomato that way but it would not appear very pallatable at all if the skin was bleached by the powerful oxidation process. So the ozone level must be regulated not just for every different food type or every differnt food processor but it must be adjusted for the different level of contaminants found in one field to the next.

So what we have is a very specific process that must be designed to within 1/2% of optimum efficiency in order to maintain adequate levels of efficacy. In other words it won't work at all if it isn't done right. This is the main reason why the company has yet to announce contracts in the food arena. They are coming but not before Cyclopss can be sure that the finished machinery is going to do the absolute best job it can for any application.

Now we all sit back and wonder how the company can protect itself from competition. There are patents pending but the real way to protect the company is to simply make inroads into the industry the right way. Bill told me that they are hard at work with the USDA and the FSIS in particular to become the company that actually writes the guidelines behind ozone decontamination throughout the food processing industry. There are not only concerns to be kept in mind on a contaminant basis but also safety concerns for workers. In some cases hoods will have to be installed above the conveyor wash systems to reduce the potential of respiratory infections for workers. Ozone is far safer than any of the alternative methods of decontamination but it is a toxic gas. Fortunately unlike the other methods because of ozones unique sweet smell any leakage will be readily noticable.

Strangely a lack of smell in a poultry plant will be one of the hurdles that the company will have to overcome. If a FSIS inspector was to walk into a poultry processing plant tomorrow and was not assaulted by that terrible smell he might not no what to think at all. How about the water? It will look clean and can be for the most part recycled. These are the kinds of things that the people at the inspection agencies will have to be educated about. I guess what really excited me along these lines is that Bill assured me that Cyclopss and ozone decontamination has it's own set proponents within the government that they are working very closely with to outline these guidelines.

But there is a great danger that faces the company and the ozone industry as a whole. That danger would be to disregard the very real possibility that the job will simply not get done right. We know that ozone has been used for numerous applications for years. We know that it is a powerful disinfectant that will kill E. coli over 3000 times faster than chlorine. But it has to be mixed to very specific levels designed for each individual food or food processors needs. What we have to hope for is that we do not see a second or third tier ozone company rush into this market and deliver a substandard decotaminating system that simply does not work. If that happened the whole industry as we imagine it would have a black eye. Cyclopss will be taking the time to do it right! Any contracts that are delivered will be signed for a process that will not fail. A process that will eventually be recognized all Americans as we shareholders of OZON recognize it today. Ozonation is quite simply the only acceptable method of food decontamination. Over the next year and a half I expect great changes to take place at Cyclopss. Changes that will not go unoticed by the average grocery shopper. Imagine if you will eating food that has not been ozonated in the year 2000? By then I expect such a groundswell of support for this technology that that eating anything else will be considered barbaric. In the new millenium I hope the name Eco-Pure will be associated with every safe food item we ever eat.

Happy Birthday to my fellow OZONER, John Donovan...

Regards, Jeff
