The problem with holding TMO shares in an IRA is the following:

at any moment my IRA is almost always fully invested. How can
you exercise rights with no available cash(and no ability to
go onto margin). I guess you could just sell the rights for
a nominal amount.
Still, I think we have identified a good strategy for an IRA
but am concerned about the high costs. Studies have shown that
costs like this (2+% a year) make it almost imossible to achieve
good returns over a long period of time since each year you give
them 2% regardless of the return.
