C'mon Gary,
That means Cabletron good acquire Ascend and I think we both know that ain't happening.

GR,

Cabletron obviously is a different story than NT. In my post, I simply called attention to what Style Pts had observed: The fact that, in one day, NT dropped over 4 points (far greater than any other networker) and ASND gained over 3 points (far more than any other networker).

In addition, the fact that NT has long been rumored as a potential suitor, that NT/ASND is a conceivable combination and that NT may well have had talks with ASND in the past makes the coincidence that occurred on Friday 12/19 worthy of notice. Had CS dropped 4 on Friday (it only dropped 1/4), I would not have tied it to a possible ASND acquisition simply because CS is not comparable to NT. Moreover, the drop in CS occurred over time and was due to an obvious cause, revenue shortfall and asian flu. There was no particular news on NT that I could find on 12/19 to merit what happened to it. Perhaps you can point me to something.

In sum, odds are nothing is happening. But I think it would have been remiss not to have noted the NT/ASND coincidence.
