Paul, Who is this guy Drew Peck and why is he saying such terrible things about Intel?

>>>Peck: Well, there are some profound technological changes that have taken place just recently really that I think are the biggest threat that Intel has ever faced, and where Andy Grove's notorious paranoia is going to serve him very well. Specifically, we've come to about the end of the line, as far as I can see, for microprocessors that conform to the old Intel standard that was established in 1980.<<<

He must surely know all about Merced. What does he know about the prospects for Merced that we don't know? And, what about the VNL project. I thought that all the physics have been completed and only needed some engineering - much like the Manhattan project.

Please explain to us what Drew means when he states "we've come to about the end of the line, as far as I can see, for microprocessors that conform to the old Intel standard that was established in 1980."
