Right along what you've been talking about:

Looking to capitalize on rising demand, General Motors (NYSE: GM) has increased its rate of production on larger trucks and SUVs, and added Saturday overtime shifts at a Texas plant. The move could see 48,000 to 60,000 additional vehicles for the 2016 model year.

Earlier this week the Detroit the automaker confirmed that a plant in Texas that makes full-sized SUVs added a Saturday shift.

Interesting day today. (Monday, Aug 17)

On the way to windsurfing I got stuck behind one of the 25MPH Google self driving cars on a 35MPH road just in front of the new Google complex that used to house HP and before that, it was the Mayfield shopping mall.

I was pretty pissed off that they clog up a busy road with a "car" that is limited to 25 MPH
This looks like the thing I saw today on San Antonio Road.

Then on the way home on Arastradero Road, I saw the new Tesla Model X about a quarter mile from Tesla's HQ on Deer Creek Road at the old HP Labs building I often worked at.

Tesla had the logos, etc. covered up but it was clear from the styling it was a Tesla just as you don't need to see the BMW emblem to know you are looking at at BMW.

I could have sworn it was a bit taller than this, it looked more like the X5 from BMW

It didn't look like this either...

I should have turned my big van around and chased it down to get a photo!

Maybe I should install the helmet cam I got for Christmas in my van for these occasions. It sure seems that brains of "Detroit" have moved to the two new companies, one in Palo Alto and the other in Mountain View, connected by Arastradero Road....
