I added some BRK.B this morning before heading into a meeting. Some of the stocks I am watching are starting to get attractive. Hope the market continues to drop more.

Opko Health, Inc. (OPK)

Filled on a bit of OPK just minutes ago. I expect Sell on Close order to take market back down a bit. Tomorrow probably some sell on Open to cover margin calls. I still have 5.5% cash and making my value lists. No rush to Buy as averages are only at last year's level.

Still holding gains from my morning Buys and was tempted to trade those. Got to stick w/ the plan.

I thin ETF's and some of those leveraged 2x funds may be accelerating losses. Thinly trading CEF's are attractive especially w/ forced sellers.

TPL low of day was $18.60 last $20.56/share and traded as high as $21.07/share. It is deeply discounted to it's NAV too. This is a good pick if you want 8.05% monthly and w/ 25% upside.

RE: Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp. (AP) - A very small add to AP @ $11.49/share

Tried to add another 30% to AP Thursday but I got a partial fill for only 4 shares. Ugh! These HFT algo programs took all my shares (they front runned my order by $0.005/share). AP is thinly traded unless Mario Gabelli is buying. I got pretty mad at Schwab as they get paid for their order flow from these HFT and then the algo programs can select their buys/sells accordingly. The problem is amplified on thinly traded stocks and as a result the retail investor gets screwed.

You made some good value Buys Monday and were able to pick off some good stocks at excellent prices I think Mondays down draft was amplified by the HFT programs. SEC really needs to look at a better solution in providing liquidity even a 5 min - 10 min halt to trading rather than let the robots control the order flow.

CVS was another one I watched that I missed w/ as much as a 20% move from Monday low to Thursday recovery high.

Monday's crash was almost like the Flash crash and very different from the 2009 melt down or even the Black Monday Oct 1987 free fall. Both 1987 and 2009 had waves of selling pretty much all day. The 2009 event lasted a few days and 1987 was over in 24 hours.

My takeaway is the market's illiquidity combined w/ some panic selling create some of the fastest value buys every time! It's too late to be a seller and selective buying can provide excellent entry point. This time is/was different because of the speed of the move that was exaggerated by the HFT algo programs.

Re: Ampco-Pittsburgh Corp. (AP) upped my position by 30% w/ Buy today at $11.27/share

On July 29, 2015, AP acquired another speciality steel & service company.

Ampco-Pittsburgh Corporation Announces Acquisition of Alloys Unlimited & Processing, Inc. supplying specialty tool, alloy, and carbon steel round bar to customers locally and nationwide since 1990. They are also a provider of specialty services including precision saw cutting, CNC machining, rough turning and boring, heat treating, and trepanning. The acquisition provides diversification and growth opportunities for the Forged and Cast Engineered Products group.

It looks like the acquisition was done w/ cash and stock (no debt). The company BV increased to $19.97/share.

Google is worth $781 in sum-of-parts - Citi

Citi raises price target to $781 from $730 ahead of expected changes in financial reporting under Alphabet structure.

---------------------------------------------------

According to Citi GOOG is 25% undervalued according to their sum of the parts analysis.

No position but I like the company and their products.
