Paul, Re: Japan and Korea will pop over here to buy our golf courses, movie companies, and skyscraper business buildings for themselves

And they suffered a few years later. If memory served, almost
all of these bargain hunting cost them billions.

In all fairness, it should be pointed out that these bailouts are LOANS, WITH INTEREST. And while yes, there is risk of a default, Chrysler, Lockheed and Mexico, among others, have all been paid back, and we are all better off for those loans having been made, the critics of the moment not withstanding.

I'm sure when the U.S gets in deep trouble - like in the late 80's - all our friends in...

Paul,

Very few of us, greatfully remmber that if it wasn't becasue of the United States, today, we would be speaking German, in slavery. That is for those of who would have survived! And if it wasn't becasue of the Marsahall Plan, we would have been were Bielorussia is today, in early 19th century, and a Soviet Republic!! Yet, you have ungreatful
piss-ants like France that forget they own a huge un-paid debit to
the people of the United States. The work in the Security Council
agaisnt the United States and teach to their school kids that the
French Resistance liberated France!!! Such is the nature of the beast! Regretfully people in Europe and elsewhere have very short memeories. When they need help they come to Washngton to be helped, and when US is in trouble they come looking for a bargin!!!

I am sure US is working very clsoely with IMF to bail out Korea, but
I don't think you should hope for dividents or love notes! I was
talking with a Kroean supplier yesterday. He was angry at the US and the IMF and thought Korean should go it alone and not to open their
industry to the foreign firms!!!! I told him then maybe the should
ask Communist Chinese for 60 billion dollars interest free lone!

Kind regards,

Yaacov
