Kirk, If you're argument is that electronics will "smarten up" everything from cars to houses going foward, you're of course right. Even changes in existing appliances will help. For example, a while back I noticed that Japanese manufacturers were putting a lot of extra capital investment in flat-panel display plants. They probably want us to hang a flat-panel digital TV on our wall. The same equipment that makes chips makes flat-panel displays, good for AMAT.
BTW, speaking of car eletronics, someone's marketing a kill-switch the finance company can use to shut off your engine if you don't make the payments! That, of course, will lead to equipment to disable the kill-switch. Ahh, progress.
