Programmer battles Microsoft
news.com
Microsoft (MSFT) has aroused the anger of a North Dakota programmer, a David who has taken on the software Goliath because he believes he is being forced to promote its Internet Explorer Web browser.

Microsoft regularly distributes improvements to its Windows 95 operating system over the World Wide Web. Independent programmers use those improvements to make their software better, and distribute the updates with their products.

But Glaeske became unhappy when he discovered the updated software for Windows 95 was no longer distributed independently, but was now in Microsoft's Web browser.

Off topic: Well, Sal, unfortunately the Pack won't get to find out about the new 'Boys till the playoffs next year, if then. Dang, coulda had 'em at Lambeau again if they hadn't done such a thorough tank job. As for Moss, sheesh, I though Dallas already had the best secondary in the league, presumably their big needs are elsewhere. Or maybe they could cut Deion free, get some cap room. Oops, there was a big signing bonus there wasn't there? Never mind. Then there's that pesky management (or lack thereof) issue with Dallas. Maybe JJ will make Ron Wolf an offer he can't refuse? That would hurt, but I don't think it's that probable, not a good match.

Seriously, I'm a casual fan at best, I don't know what happened to Dallas this year but I always found it odd that they thought Fred Strickland was this big steal. Meanwhile, the Pack got Seth Joyner this year, that "come here to get a ring" thing doesn't seem to be working for the Big D anymore either. Pity, that.

Cheers, Dan.

Off topic follow up: Oops, I got mixed up on position there, or does Moss go both ways? I mean, I read a story about him once, but like I said I'm a casual fan at best. Receiver- well, I don't exactly like Michael Irvin, saw that spastic weinie dance after too many 10 yard gains, plus he's a whiner now that he gets called for pushing off now and then, but he's a good player.

Anyway, methinks JJ ought to hire a good GM before the draft, but that would be a little against form, he seems to have a bit of that control freak thing in him too.

Cheers, Dan
