A more reasonable statement would be something along the lines that starvation and famine aren't problems in America, and that serious hunger is rare. ..so unless you happen to actually be the poor hungry or starving outlier, the measures of central tendency suggest that there isn't a problem, the rest of us can simply fuggedaboutit ..why do you folks think there is a problem with trying to help the folks at the bottom when there are individual families who could pay for these entire programs with their pocket change ..that isn't a problem?
