We hear the same tired old mantra every time the poor worker gets any sort of a break!

Oh it's a job killer...nobody will hire any longer...it will cost more in the long run...there are hidden costs...it will result in higher prices/runaway inflation or prostate problems.

Hogwash ... spread a little of those record profits around you greedy pigs!

Free sick days aren't paid, either. Every job I had came with sick leave, altho one or 2 combined it with vacations, and called it "PTO, paid time off".

Before your scenario's get overly complex let me interject what IBM did about 40 years ago and still has in place today..... That is, they simply announced there would be no more sick days, ....from that point on if you were sick and had to stay home you would be paid for however long you were sick (I was out for 6 weeks once after surgery), but if you are not sick do not stay at home..... The result was sick days dropped dramatically....... One of the rules was that if you were sick for 5 days or more in a row, management had the option of asking you to bring in a doctors note.....
Monday/Friday syndrome is also monitored.... The practice of paying people for unused sick days is ridiculous....and even worse is getting paid for unused accumulated sick days........
