You don't make sense. When analysts puts on coverage, usually they come out with solid reasons for rating and also target price. It is so that all analysts are NOT GOOD. In other words some have infamous reputation of "street" reading their recoms. in opposite sense - it depends on how long they have been following a particular company & so their reputation is tied down to their past recoms vs price action.

In syntel's case, there has never been a MAJOR buy by big institutions. The float is too small to support such an activity. This recent jump is again most likely due to small investors loading up short-term gain, as results for 4th quarter is expected to be good.

If serious money is coming in, this baby will in no time hit 15+. And this could be a start of that run if we continue to see increased volume.

So volume & price action is the key in SYNTEL. The ratings would definitely help as it would confirm the good reasons, the SI looking/hoping for.
